Looking Ahead to 2028: Possible Democratic Contenders
From a person trying to raise their political career from the dead, to bringing out your dead, I bring you Hillary Clinton, who is currently 77 years old. She’ll be close to 80 years old in 2028.
It occurred to me we have a long way to go before the presidential election in 2028. Still, it’s not too early to begin planning for who the Democrats will prop up as their 2028 presidential candidate. The running calendar online shows, as of this writing, we have 182 weeks, 5 days, 13 hours and 32 minutes.
A lot of things can happen between now and then.
A person who’s very popular in the eyes of the public today, could have a tremendous fall from grace over the next few weeks, months or years. Some unknown person could pop up and become a front runner.
One thing is clear regarding the democrats; they are leaderless and those trying to appear as the leader or frontrunner for 2028 are stumbling and bumbling out of the gate. Many are sticking to the old playbook, holding on to useless terms like Hitler, authoritarian and oligarchy. Some are still playing the race card. Many are jumping on causes that make them look silly, while some are just acting silly. The democrats don’t want the situation they produced with the 2024 elections, but there is no one from their party who can or is resonating with the voting public.
This is going to be the first of a three part essay on the 2028 presidential election. In this first essay, I will look at who I believe could be potential candidates for the democrats in 2028. The second essay will dive into the GOP presidential bench and shake out who I believe could be potential candidates. The final essay will compare and contrast the possible candidates, who could be each parties nominee and finally present the “winner” of the 2028 presidential election.
This will be a subject we come back to sometime in early 2027.
People are already discussing this topic. As I stated earlier, the democrats can not afford to put up another weak candidate like they did in 2024. There are alot of polls and projects in the works attempting to figure out who the candidate could be for the democrats. My essays will not rely on polling data or stats, so if that’s what you are hoping for, stop reading now. This early in the game, I’m going to rely on current information provided by the manipulation media and my gut feeling. I’m also only going to discuss who I think the top 5 candidates could be.
With that being said let’s get started.
#5: Senator Cory Booker.
Senator Booker is currently the senior ranking senator from New Jersey. He is 56 years old. He’s been a senator since 2013. According to the internet, these are his most notable accomplishments :
Cory Booker's notable accomplishments include his role in criminal justice reform, his advocacy for social and racial justice issues, and his marathon Senate speech. He played a key role in passing the First Step Act, a bipartisan criminal justice reform bill, and has been a vocal advocate for ending the war on drugs and legalizing cannabis. He has also spoken extensively on issues of racial and social inequality. In March 2025, he delivered the longest speech in U.S. Senate history, a 25-hour filibuster, to protest the second presidency of Donald Trump.
It would seem to me if you’ve been a senator for 12 years you would have accomplished more than what is shown above. I’m not sure giving a 25 hour speech is noteworthy. His primary focuses are social and racial justice issues, and issues of racial and social inequality. He’s still waiting for the day when “we shall overcome…” Democrats will like him for awhile because he’s black, but he’s done nothing and stands for nothing that will move the voting public towards him. He made a run for president in 2020 and feels he should run again. At present, he’s working to stay in the news and appear relevant. I don’t think that’s going to work out for him, but we have time so we will see.
#4: Governor J.B. Pritzker:
Governor Pritzker is making a name for himself by not supporting anything Trump does. He is pro illegal immigration and supports sanctuary cities.
I believe we just voted against all that.
At this point, he may be considering running, but his name recognition is not there and the shit show that is Chicago will be an albatros I don’t see him being able to shake off. He is currently 60 years old.
Here are his “notable accomplishments”:
JB Pritzker, the current Governor of Illinois, has several notable accomplishments, including enacting criminal justice reforms like eliminating cash bail and implementing cannabis-related record expungement. He also oversaw budget funding for Illinois State Police cadets and increased penalties for texting while driving.
#3: Governor Gavin Newsom
Governor Newsom is 57 years old and has been the governor of California, in what feel like forever. The state as a whole is not a dumpster fire, but many cities such as Los Angeles and San Francisco are. The state is over regulated and over taxed. After the recent fires in Los Angeles, many homeowners are struggling to rebuild because of all the environmental regulations required to build. According to the internet,
The estimated Timeline is 5-10 Years. With the physical rebuilding complete, it will still take time for businesses to reopen, attracting workers and residents back at pre-2025 levels. The areas aren't fully recovered until the communities have been restored.
Newsom is scary because he’s slick, charismatic and politically connected. He’s working to soften his liberal views so he appears more centrist. I would say his work in California tells you without a doubt who he is and what he stands for. He has plenty of time to revamp his image and come forth as a viable candidate.
Gavin Newsom's notable accomplishments include his tenure as Mayor of San Francisco, his work as California's Lieutenant Governor, and his current role as Governor of California. He's known for initiatives like the San Francisco Health Choices Plan, promoting criminal justice reform through Proposition 47, and advocating for the California College Promise. As Governor, he has championed initiatives like the State's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the implementation of the California College Promise, and ongoing efforts to address climate change.
#2 Governor Josh Shapiro
Governor Shapiro is 51 years old. He was on the short list to run with Kamala Harris during her failed run for president. He dodged a bullet by NOT making the cut. Harris would have ended his political career. I don’t know much about the governor, but his name keeps coming up. Since he’s not doing anything crazy and keeping his head down while working for the people of Pennsylvania, he will definitely be someone to watch over the next few years. Below are the governor’s notable accomplishments.
Governor Josh Shapiro is getting stuff done in his first two years in office, traveling across the Commonwealth as he works to create real opportunity and advance real freedom in Pennsylvania. Governor Shapiro has laid out a commonsense agenda since Day One, and he is already delivering results for Pennsylvanians.
Since taking office, Governor Shapiro has visited 50 counties, meeting and listening to Pennsylvanians from all walks of life, from small business owners to teachers, first responders to barbers, and farmers to nurses.
#1 Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Also known as AOC, Alexandria is 35 years old and has been in Congress since 2019. Although I don’t see her as a real candidate, many people in social media believe she could making a scary good run for the White House. She has a huge social media following and this upcoming generation of voters are all about social media, so she will continue to connect with her current followers and attract more. She’s fairly attractive so that will pull more than a few people into her sphere. She’s young and has no problem going anywhere and saying anything, although lately she’s been slightly under the radar. Continue to watch the moves she makes and the people she aligns herself with. If she see the chance to make a successful run, she will. If she does, the GOP must be prepared for her ability to connect with the public.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's notable accomplishments include becoming the youngest woman to ever serve in the United States Congress. She also won national recognition by winning the Democratic Party's primary election for New York's 14th congressional district. Additionally, her undergraduate research project on the effect of antioxidants on the lifespan of the nematode C. elegans earned her recognition and had a small asteroid named after her.
As a bonus, I’ll add two people to this list who have no chance of becoming president of these United States in 2028 or anytime after that.
They are Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton.
Kamala is doing everything she can to resurrect her political career. She’s giving resistance speeches and considered a frontrunner for governor of California. I’m not sure it makes sense to run for president again and fail… again. Kamala is 60 years old.
From a person trying to raise their political career from the dead, to bringing out your dead, I bring you Hillary Clinton, who is currently 77 years old.
She’ll be close to 80 years old if she were elected in 2028.
Really?
It’s fun to pronostica; however, we need to stay alert and make sure we win the house and the senate in 2026. The midterm elections are the extremely important, but don’t allow the 2028 presidential election sneak up on you. Also make sure you are paying attention to your state and local elections. The democrats are throwing everything on the wall and seeing what will stick. By the end of 2026, we’ll know which democrat stuck and who the GOP will be facing. Continue to stay informed and curious.
My next essay will outline who I believe the top five republican candidates will be.
Let me know what you think about my top 5 democrat picks. Do you agree with them or do you think I’m off the mark? What about my bonus picks? Do they have a chance?
Who you think I will have as my top five GOP candidates.
Not even close to a winner in any of these clowns. Yet your analysis is probably on target.
Well done Cecil.
